There are neurological disabilities that despite a high IQ and intelligence they cannot do anythijng but academic stuff (school related) and cannot earn a living bc they have limited mobility, coordination, perception, judgment, problem solving abilities, physical ailities yet can only teach or talk about what they know. What do you do with ppl like that who everytime they try any job, they are fired during probation. What do you do with someone like that who has all kinds of college degrees, masters, and even a PhD but cant do anything outside academia, What do u do with such a person??????? They are too high functioning for sheltered employment or group homes. Vocational rehab will force them to take neuropsych tests which needs to stop. They shouldnt force these people to succumb to these tests just for a chance of maybe getting help. That is disgusting.
These people need systematic change. They need employers to be sensitive and patient.
When over 80% of neuros between 16 and 64 years of age are unemployed, that is unacceptable.
Possible solutions
1 make personal assistance a reasonable accommdation required by law and not a personal service
2 use Japanese style enclaves where one's weaknesses become another's strengths
3 eliminate probationary periods for neuros
4 increase sensitivity towards these kinds of disabilities
